Our Parks, Recreation, Culture and Facilities Department is currently looking for Inclusion Support Leaders to join our summer camp team! Our Inclusion Support Leaders provide one-on-one support to children with disabilities who attend various recreation programs such as summer camps. Our next Inclusion Support Leaders will prepare and deliver individualized lesson plans and support materials, modify and reinforce instructions to provide guidance and assistance, adapt activities to reinforce learning introduced by the program leader as well as assist in the delivery of recreational programs as directed. Communicating with participants and their caregivers as well as providing guidance and advice will be expected.
Successful candidates will have completed high school as well as completion of a certificate or diploma in therapeutic recreation, disability and inclusion, education assistance, behavioural intervention, or other related discipline. Some related experience is also expected. Candidates must have valid First Aid or equivalent as well as a Driver’s License for the Province of BC (with satisfactory driving record).
The City offers a rate of $25.86 – $30.29 per hour (2022 rates) along with 12% in lieu of benefits. The City has a vaccination policy that is currently suspended. However, should the policy be reinstated, it will be a requirement for all current and future employees. Applicants under consideration may be required to undergo a police security clearance evaluation and vulnerable sector check (with no adverse reports).
